Spool quilt progress

I had my Wednesday off work today, and I have spent a few hours in my sewing room. I almost finished all the blocks for my scrappy spool quilt, and I look forward to start the layout and piece the blocks together. I have used the pattern in a book called "Simple strategies for Scrap Quilts", and I plan to make more scrap quilts from this book. I have bought a lot of books with patterns for scrap quilts, but this book is one of my favorites.

I plan to do some progress on the needle turn tonight, and hope to finish the last block for my "Winter Blooms" quilt soon. I have some scraps already cut to use in this quilt, but will have to add some more to get to finish it.

I have also started to knit on the second arm for a sweater for one of my DIL's and I hope to finish the sweater in a couple of weeks. This is a traditional pattern called "Islender/Islandsgenser" and is a free pattern from Vikinggarn

UFO progress

I looked forward to spend my day in the sewing room today, but woke up with a nasty headache... Thanks to a long power nap and some migraine medicine, the migraine was beaten and I could spend a few hours sewing. I made progress on two of my quilts today.

Mona and Sølvi joined the UFO challenge, and you can visit their blogs to see what they are up to :o)

The first one I could add six new blocks to, and now I can easily see how it will look when the blocks are side by side. Will add the sashing when I finish all the blocks and I can piece the rows. Really looking forward to that!

I managed to make a pile of blocks for the scrappy spool quilt too, but didn't get to press them and finish the blocks today.

I'm so happy about the progress I did today, and it was so great to spend time with my sewing machine. Hope it won't be long till I can continue on my UFO's.

Wish you all a great new and creative week!

Working on a UFO today

I have spent a few hours during the day in my sewing room. I have pieced some more blocks for my scrappy spool quilt, and I am glad I decided to add a few red and yellow blocks, and some pink ones too. I haven't decided to add a border or not yet. I might end up with no border since I love how it is looking, but you'll never know ;o)

I have been playing with the blocs and pieced some of them together. I will rearrange some of them when I get more blocs finished.
Some of these fabrics are from the first year I started on my adventure in the patchwork world. Lots of memories in these blocks. Some of these are from the pile of fabrics I have for "the special" project, but I have stopped saving the beauties. If I never use them, I will end up with a stash that are there just to pet... and I always find new favorites, so I use them all.
I know I'm not the only one who saves special fabrics, but if we don't use them we'll never  see how pretty they are in a quilt :o)

Hope you are having a great Saturday!

More UFO's for the challenge

My friend Sølvi will join me on the UFO challenge, and post about hers. She asked me if I had more UFO's, and I said "Oh yes! I'll post some more on my blog later today".
So.....This is a "few" more photos of the UFO's I was able to find today:

Stitcheries for a Easter project. I think I started this one last Easter

This one needs just the hand quilting and it's a finish. This is an old UFO

Potholders and a table runner that needs quilting, and some more stitcheries

I am half way to finish the EPP blocks for a quilt called "Åttebladsrose", a BOM from Lappemakeriet

The pieces for the purse is finished and needs to be sewn together, the start of a table runner and blocks for a quilt called "Summer Day".

"Hanna's garden" I started when I attended a class with Gail Pan

I got to make a few blocks for the scrappy spool quilt today. I will cut a few more fabrics for this quilt, since it needs a few red and perhaps yellow blocks to make it a bit more scrappy.

It's going to be some bad weather over here this weekend. That means great sewing weather, and I really hope to spend some time in my sewing room this weekend.

If you want to join me and some of my blog friends and post your UFO's, please let me know and I will link to your blogs. This is just for fun, and maybe we can cheer each other to finish some of them!

Wish all my quilty friends a great, fun and creative weekend :oD

UFO challenge

As you know, I have been organizing my sewing room for many weeks. Slowly I get things sorted, and I get an overview. I have been looking through the boxes with unfinished projects, and I thought I should post some of them here on my blog. I know I have a lot more UFO's, but these are the ones I picked out this time. I know I am the Queen of UFO's, and some of you might be shocked over how many I have... But as long as I am having fun, and I do finish stuff now and then, I don't care about what other people think. I must admit I wish I finished one project at a time, but that just doesn't work for me ;o)

I have been challenged on Facebook to show my finished projects several times, but I thought it would be fun to challenge my friends here in Blogland to show your UFO's... Anyone out there want to join me? Just for fun?

In the first collage you can see the three blocks of a quilt called "Dancing with the stars",
the finished rows of "Millgirls quilt", "Dreamweaver" designed by Tula pink, a quilt made from a pattern by Anni Downs and a table runner also designed by Anni Downs.

In the second collage you can see the 9patch quilt I started last spring, some of the blocks for "Winter Blooms" designed by Gail Pan, blocs for a quilt from Kim Bracett's book, an hexagon quilt in Tula Pink fabrics, a BOM from Gail Pan and stithery and table runner from Helen Stubbings' patterns.

In the third collage you can see the start of a larger log cabin quilt designed by Judy Martin, "Bricks and stepping stones" designed by Bonnie Hunter, two new blocks I made the other day for a scrap quilt ispired by my friend Sølvi, a spool quilt from a scrap quilt book and some blocks for a new "Comfort quilt" designed by Leanne Beasley.

Some of these UFO's are years old, and some are new, but they are all projects I hope to finish this year. I hope to enjoy a lot more time in my sewing room soon.

I have been going to a neurologist for a while and after taking a sleep test he required, he figured out that I have RLS (restless legs syndrome). This can be the main reason I am so tired and feel like no energy, since it can cause severe nightly sleep. When you sleep bad for months the body just says STOP, so now I really keep my fingers crossed that the medicine he gave me will help.
Just hope to be "back on track" again soon, and looking forward to follow my friends here in Blogland :o)

Big hugs,
Laila

Been quilting a little bit

I finished sewing a quilt called "Kitchen Sink" more than two years ago, and I finally finished quilting it last weekend. I am pretty satisfied with the panto I used, since it kept the blocks in the quilt smooth. I haven't got time to add the binding yet, but hope to do that soon.

I am still knitting more than I sew. I have to admit that it's easier to do when I have been dealing with some health issues, and the energy level has been too low. Last week I went to the yarn store, and bought some new yarn I haven't tried before and started on a jacket called Fanakofte. I love the blue and white, and I have enjoyed knitting this weekend while watching the Falun world championships.

I also attached the -threads on a pair of Blueberry Waffle Socks I finished a while ago. It's a birthday gift for my MIL.

Wish you all a great new and creative week!
Hugs,
Laila
