Having fun!

I've been having this gorgeous quilt on my frame for a while. Since I've been having a cold the last two weeks, it did slow me down. But now I'm having a lot of fun quilting!
This quilt is made by a lady in my local quilt guild, and every single block is made by hand!!! She usually hand quilt her quilts, but asked me if I could quilt it on my longarm. I'm happy she likes it so far, and have to admit I like it too. Since I'm a newbie still, it takes lots of time, but I hope to start quilting the borders soon.
It's wool batting, and it gives the quilt a beautiful texture when it's quilted, and I think this pattern will make it soft and not too flat.

You can do a few things using some homemade paper templates and use a ruler with different curves. I've been looking for some circles to use for patterns like the one in the large triangles, but I was happy to find out the one I have was ok. I use a purple air soluble marking pen, marking only the ends of each "petal".

I've been having my Wednesday off work, and got some quilting done between housework and other "have to's". Hubby is working out of town again, so I'm able to enjoy some time in my sewing room.
Yesterday I got to get border fabrics and backing for a quilt I'm hoping to finish up and load on the longarm frame soon. Can't wait to show you :-)

I'm trying to catch up on the blogs I usually read, and I do leave comments when I do have the time to. I guess there will be more blog posts, and time to read blogs now that the Summer is over and I spend more time indoors.

I'm off to do a few more stitches before I head to bed, see ya!

Happy sewing,
Laila

More toiletry purses/pouches and a new quilt

I've been working on a "secret" for a while, and yesterday I could hand over the quilt to it's new owner :-)
My oldest son's girlfriend turned 18 yesterday, and I'm so glad she liked it :-) She is the cutest, and I know she will appreciate it :o)

Since I said yes to attend a little market we had at work the other day, I had to speed piece a few things.I made 10 of the toiletry purses/pouches! The grey one on top was given as a birthday present for my dear SIL last weekend. Me and Hubby agreed that one was the nicest one I had made so far :o)
None of them was sold, but that's fine by me. Nice presents to have ready ;o)
I think I will keep one of the purple ones, I just love them! Some of my favorite fabrics to be honest :-)
I made one with the scraps from the "Dilly Dally" quilt, and the aqua zipper I got from Lappedilla was just perfect!

A nasty cold has kept me company for almost a week now, and I'm pretty sick and tired of coughing and fever. My face feels like it's two sizes too small, and I can't wait till my sinuses are back to normal....
I haven't been sewing at all for almost a week, and I have so many things I want to do... Hope the new week will be a nice and productive one.

Wish you all a great new week,
Laila

Spools quilt is finished

Last night I finished the binding on my Spools quilt.  I'm satisfied with the result, and hope to get it up on the wall when Hubby is back from work on Friday :-)  This was a fun quilt to both sew and quilt. I'm taking it with me to the quilt guild meeting tonight for the show and tell.

Wish you a great Wednesday,
Laila

Comfort quilt and purses

I've been spending a lot of time in my sewing room these days. Hubby has been working out of town a lot the last weeks and the kids are "doing their stuff", and I'm left to do what I want to do after mummy-duties and housework is done. I got a couple of new pantograph patterns on Friday, so I got to start quilting Comfort quilt #3. DS2 chose one of the new ones, called Square Spiral. I just knew he would like it, and it's perfect for this quilt! Both of us love it! Need to add the binding, but got to finish up a couple of things first.
I have finished one more quilt, but have to wait to show it to you, since it's a secret. Soon you'll get to see it, promise :-)

I'm attending a little market in the middle of September, and I really need to get some things finished till then. It wasn't my plan to attend, but me and some of my colleagues decided just days ago that we would. It will be fun, and I hope to get some small things to have for sale.
I have tried different patterns, and tried to get rid of my zipper-phobia. LOL!

I've made three purses today, the red one and the two blue ones in the bottom picture. The grey one was finished the other day.

I've bought some gorgeous lace zippers at Lappedilla, and inspired by my blog friend Nicola I had to make "Anna's sminkepung", a pattern by AnnAKa. I've made a purse using this pattern a long time ago, but that purse didn't turn out so nice like these :
I know the photos are bad, will take better photos in daylight later. But you get the idea, right?
I love these lace zippers, and bought a few in other colors too. Hope to play some more in my sewing in the days ahead :-)

Wish you all a great new week,
Laila
